Outlook sync does not seem to work in 2010.
Installs with no errors but there is no button and the addon is not registered with outlook.
Also running Win7 and I have tried running the installer in compatibility mode.
Any ideas?

Again really sorry to anyone using Outlook 64bit. We use a third party piece of software that is just not available for 64bit. Will we ever support it? I really can't give an answer to that.

Outlook 2010 (32bit) will work fine with Soocial.
There is one limitation. Outlook 64bit is not supported yet. At this point we want to recommend using 32bit.
On of our user in this thread pointed out that Microsoft itself does not see a real purpose using 64bit for most users. https://office.microsoft.com/en-us/pr...

1nutterguy,
We have not made this version to support Outlook version 2010. We will have to do this for a future version. -
-
Looking forward to that - Will be thourougly testing the new Office '10 soon and it would help to be able to continue using Soocial with it.
-
-
Please also specifically acknowledge the x64 Outlook version, as this seems to cause a lot (more) trouble than the x32 version! Thanks.
-
-
Yeah, upgraded to Outlook 2010 too and soocial seems to be broken here too.
Please come up with a solution soon as te BETA is out in the open now and a lot more people will start to upgrade!-
Thanks Dan,
We are working on a new version of the client and will include 2010 in the version. -

Outlook x64 2010 Beta. It seems like your application is x86 so its not installing in the new outlook x64. Let me know when you have a beta version for outlook x64 and i will test it for you.

Hi,
I've tested on both x86 and x64.
The soft run but there's no sync... (w/o error).
It appears on soocial.com and it's writed : last synced never.-
Hey Nicolas,
you are right, it does not work. We will let you know when a version comes available that does. Might take a few months though.... -

Using win7 as primary os now and am also beta testing ms office 2010 (using as primary office suite). Having the same issue, unable to sync. Do not get an error during install but does not display the sync option. Thanks for future updates to soocial sync.

would love to use soocial, but without outlook 2010 i dont really have an improvment... i only need a connection between gmail and outlook. using gmail sync on my iphone (push-connection ;)) but gmail doesnt support sync of contacts..
so go ahead and implement some great stuff for the nice outlook 2010 - PLEASE! -

I will be switching to Outlook 2010 during its next Beta release and would love to see social support for it

What about first syncing Outlook to MSN / Live with the Outlook connector?
Then have Soocial sync MSN with everything else?
Yes, this does mean you have to have a MS Live account & trust MS with your contact info.

Does the outlook sync tool work with Outlook 2010 beta?

Hi Bart, are there any news regarding the new client?
BTW, I tried Soocial on my iPodTouch and worked like a charm. Nice work!
I particularly appreciated the log, where we can see all changes made on the device and on the online database. Very nice feature that would be very interesting to add to the outlook client. For me at least!-
All I can say is that we are actively working on the new version. We need more time though. I hope we can add at least some logging to the new version.

somewhat agree, but not everybody needs the Outlook client. And we still have the free accounts. -
-
jmeyer43: If Outlook 2010 was out on store shelves, I might agree with you. But it's still in Beta right now. As such, Soocial should be working on beta support themselves, and you shouldn't be expecting a final product to be out yet to support another company's beta. The only reason I would expect any company to release their supporting product for another product the same time the main product hits shelves, is because Microsoft makes their product publicly available for developers during the beta period. Otherwise, I could see it taking several weeks from release.
As far as 64-bit support... I was using Outlook 2007 with Soocial on Win7 64-bit without any trouble. So I'm not sure what problem you're having exactly here.
Anyway, semi-patiently awaiting Soocial for Outlook 2010 myself, but I can wait till June/July when Outlook 2010 hits the shelves if I absolutely have to ;) -

Daniel Bentley: He is talking about Office 2010, not the OS. Office will come in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions (at least that is what they are saying now). Office 2007 is 32-bit (but runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows). So in order to support Office or rather Outlook 2010 the Soocial plugin will have to be both 32-bit and 64-bit in order to support all versions of Outlook in Office 2010. For Office 2007 only a 32-bit plugin is needed.
-
-
So Office 2010 has gone RTM now, any updates on a Beta or even an Alpha?
-
Can't give you any ETA yet. Sorry...

Really hoping you guys can come up with something that works with Outlook 2010 64-bit version soon. You've got me addicted to Soocial (so much so I paid for it!) and now my contact sync is in limbo. I hope this is a priority for you.
-
-
Yes, but thanks for doing such a great job and making such a great service! It's like Roboform Online but for contacts. I LOVE IT!
-
-
Yes, Soocial will really be a great product for me when it works with Outlook 2010 32-bit (running on Win 7 64-bit) - really looking forward to using it.
Alternatively a version that works directly with Exchange would be good too.
Now if only I could find good way to sync calendars.-
We will be able to support 2010 in the near future Shew. But it might take a few more months.
-
-
-
-
-
2010 Support is a MUST have! Not having support for 2010 is a show stopper... This should come before adding any other features.
-
Our first priority is to fix it for 2003 and 2007 as still the fast majority of the users do not have 2010 yet. But we do agree we need this ASAP.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
common. it cant be that hard to program it to work with outlook 2010. its already rtm too.
-
-
RTM = Release to Manufacturer
it does NOT mean "Release to developers"
it does NOT mean "free"
it does NOT mean it's on shelves yet
it ONLY means that manufactures are now able to start pre-installing it on machines that will EVENTUALLY find their way to stores. Those machines are not in stores yet, so how exactly is Soocial supposed to get their hands on it just because it's RTM? Soocial has access to the public beta, that's it. They can potentially make it work with the beta, and that may or may not play nice with the final version, which could potentially have API changes that break the product.
Have a little patience, they've said they're working on it, let them make sure it works right on the right product, and not just an old beta. -
-
last i checked API's do not change so drastically between betas and final products. They can have access to office RTM if they are part of MSDN which a company which makes products to work with microsoft products should be.
-
-
APIs, or the effects of any given API function, can change significantly from beta to final, ESPECIALLY with Microsoft.
MSDN subscriptions start at around $1000 per year for the lowest level... for a company making a product for a single application that's only updated every 2-3 years, it's much more cost effective to just buy the application they write for. -
-
Nice discussion. I'll give a little update. We getting very close with the version that support 2003 and 2007. This version will also support 64bit. It won't support OL2010 yet. And yes it might not be hard to support 2010 but needs time to find out what is different and make it work. We are pushing as hard as we can. We do want it as least as bad as you do.
Thanks for being patient. -
-
Thats a big pitty - outlook 2010 is out now not in beta and so if soocial wants to stay with the pack you have to follow more swiftly than this

Bart, what if you sync with the Exchange contacts folder versus Outlook 2010? You'd get the same result, but via cloud instead of desktop. Seems an elegant solution for any version of Outlook.
Maybe you already scoped that out and ruled it out for some reason, but it seems to me it's a way to get those Outlook 2010 users who have Exchange Server (hosted or otherwise) to sync up.
Still leaves the standalone guys out but is a start...
Cheers,
Geoff-
Thanks for the input geoster. But we do prefer to support Outlook 2010 itself as that would provide a solution for all users with 2010

It is frustrating that this was first posted around a year ago and there is still no solution. I only need to sync my contacts from gmail to outlook so this software is useless to me right now.
I have considered purchasing when outlook 2010 is supported. But for now this is useless. -
-
Sadly I already made a purchase and am still waiting for proper Outlook support, not to mention 2010 support!
-
-
Does anyone know a timeframe on the Outlook 2010 (x64) support? I could really use the Soocial paid service, but if it doesn't support Outlook 2010, it's of no use to me. I would definitely be a paid user if it supported it.
-
Sorry about the frustration. We are working on int but can't give you any ETA
-
-
-
-
-
I also have Outlook 2010 x64
I very much like what I am seeing in the free version of this service -- and am looking at purchasing a subscription
But I will not do so unless the currently sold version of Outlook is supported -
-
There are a number of apps (Endnote, Google Cal sync) that only fully support the 32bit version, could we at least get some support for that if the x64 is still some time away?
-
Not sure if there is a big difference Steve. Our current client supports both 32 and 64 bit. Just not Outlook 2010. But we will be pragmatic about this. If 32bit is easier to implement we might do just that. Thanks for the suggestion.
-
-
-
-
-
As a workround until it's supported properly, you can sync to a Windows Live account instead, and use the Outlook Hotmail Connector to get the contacts into Outlook. It doesn't put them into your main address book, so it's not perfect, but at least they're there!
-
-
-
Hi Ed, actually you'll find that Marketing and Development are in fact the same team. ;-)
For those still helping us test the Outlook and other clients we have and will make an exception to the rule and get you on board with a free premium account. Thanks for helping us test the beta and alpha clients in any case we really to appreciate it.
Just so you understand we have a large number of beta users that currently are using Soocial a lot and for those users it's fair to upgrade to premium. Up till now we've been very lenient and we thought it would be time for them to upgrade.
(On a related note you might want to hide the voucher as this is meant only for beta users.) -
-
-
-
-
Opps! Feel free to delete the attachment!
How does one avail themselves of the free premium account?-
Just email us for your special premium. I actually cannot delete the attachment, I think you need to edit the post yourself. Thanks! ;-)
-
-
-
-
-
Stefan, What email address should us beta users contact for that premium account? Also, kind of an off topic subject, but any plans for a (prepare to cringe) lotus notes client? One of my many email accounts happens to be for a huge enterprise, still clinging onto Notes/Domino.
-
croaking, you can always contact us at the support@soocial.com e-mail address about anything. And yes I did just cringe at your very off topic question. The answer is that it never even really crossed our minds to support it. ;-)

Hey Bart, just out of curiosity, and thinking it might help alleviate some of the concerns here, but what exactly has been the hold up on the Outlook 2010 update? I know Office 2010 has a new plugin SDK, but the new SDK is a lot more accessible and easier to use than previous versions of Office too from the fiddling I've been doing so far... If it's an issue of manpower, I could use a job :D
-
-
Guys, I love Soocial and have been a premium user for a few months, but what's the point in supporting 500 devices if Outlook 2010 and Notes are not supported ? Looking at how good your current service is right now, I don't know what more urgent priorities you could have...
From a Gmail/Outlook 2010/Lotus Notes/Android/Nokia S40/Nokia S60 sync'er. -
-
I really don't understand: this thread said that outlook 2010 is *not* supported yet but the outlook connector dowwnload page said it is ("Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (Both 32 and 64 bit) with Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010*")
Can someone clarify? -
-
The * at the end of 2010* references a sentence of issues on the next line down on that page.
I just installed 0.10.1.31 and it will install in outlook 2010 Add-Ins tab and attempt to sync but only got 31 of my 100 contacts and then said sync not completed reason unknown. It obviously has more issues then the one * sentence they mention. -
-
Sorry guys for leaving you in limbo here. The good news is that the client does work for most users with Outlook 2010. We have found there are some users that have issues. But we should have a version soon that should sove those too.
-
-
I am running 64-bit Outlook 2010 on 64-bit Windows 7. If I install the Outlook connector and then run it manually, when I press "Sync now" it complains that "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
I have tried many solutions suggested for this problem on various forums including editing the registry but cannot fix it. I am suspicious that it may be that the Soocial client software is not built for 64-bit Outlook as described here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libra...
and discussed here:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/F...
Can anyone say they have it working with 64-bit Outlook 2010?- view 3 more comments

More than a few weeks have passed, but there seems to be no support for 64bit versions of Oultook yet. Any ETA for this?

Hey ZarK,
The whole process of supporting Outlook 64 bit turned out to be more difficult than we thought, so I don't think 64 bit support is going to be available anytime soon. Sorry about that. -

-
-
Mine is actually 32-bit. Sorry I overlooked that :)
-
-
-

As far as we know that should not be a problem. What issues are you running in to?
-
-
-
-
-
Look at the stephencphillips comment from 25 Oct. He explained that it just did not work.
-
But did you try?
-
-
-
-
-
Yes, I tried and got exactly the same result: Outlook did not show Soocial at all, when I tried to run sync from the tray icon I got message: ""Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
-
Cool, thanks. That is good to know. We will have to see what is causing this not to work. No idea if it is an easy fix.

OK, updated to 1.1.0.0. Update went smotthyl, apart the fact that it closes outlook without any warning (you really should fix that- it's annoying to have Outlook shut down without your permission). After installing, it reported Error 20013 and asked to restart the applicatio, which I did. only to have it give the same error and request to restart the application. It won't sync.
BTW, I'm using WinVista and Office 2007 - not 2010. Still before yesterday's update everything was working fine and now it's not... :( -
-
Update: tried again - this time uninstalled soocial client, removed connection on the soocial website, closed Outlook, restarted PC and downloaded the client from website. It installed V 1.1.0.3. Error 20013 appears everytime and does not sync. Can I go back to a previous version please??

I have the same error that the people above are talking about, the 20013 error. I have Windoes 7 x64 and Outlook 2007.

Is it 32-bit or 64-bit Outlook?
-
-
I am getting the same error.
I am using windows 7 64-bit with outlook 2010 32-bit
This error only started after the update to 1.1. The previous version had bugs but was ultimately syncing. -

Hello everybody,
edit: Actually it might take a couple of hours until the application is deployed and you are able to find it. So, at the latest tomorrow, the application should be there.
We've just released a new version of the Outlook client (v 1.2.1.0), which should solve the 20010 and 20013 errors that were recently reported in the 1.0.0.3 and 1.1.0.0 versions and should be able to sync. Please try it out and if it doesn't work, let us know.
We don't offer any support yet for Outlook 2010 64bit, but we have been made aware of the need and importance for this support and we'll be adjusting our app for the 64bit version in the following weeks.
Thanks! -
-
Hello Andrei,
On the Soocial website, the available version is still 1.1.0.0. Can you post the new version here or somewhere els so we can get it?
Thanks!-
You are right Miguel. We are unable to deploy the application at the moment, but it should be there in a couple of hours, at the latest tomorrow.

Installed new (v 1.2.1.0) and its working good. Previously would only sync 31/100 contacts but now its syncing all 100 contacts. Windows 7 32 bit and Outlook 2010 32 bit.
-
-
Ok, installed 1.1.0.0, and then updated form within the app to 1.2.1.0.
Still won't sync.... :( tried a few times and always with errors - "lost connection to the server", "ups, something went wrong, try again"... or the client crashes... So, for me still no luck! -

Hi Bart, any updates ?
Thanks! -

Hi, An update, this morning, when turning my PC on, Soocial said it synced. I tried again and the message was again a successful sync. Now I've tried again and error messages come up again. So I'm not really sure that it even successfully synced this morning and why sometimes it (apparently) syncs and other times it doens't.
Are there any updates on your end?
Thanks! -

I have been using the outlook client (outlook 2010 3b-bit on Win 7 64-bit) for a while (as long as it has been "working"). There have been problems and bugs. But it has been mostly working.
Today, I found that most of my ~230 contacts were deleted somehow, which synced to my gmail account and obliterated my contacts.
Luckily there are backups available, but I am uninstalling the outlook client until it is a more finished product.-
Hi Brett,
Did you delete those contacts from Outlook or did some or change within Outlook itself before they all got deleted? -

Hi Soocial Team,
Just wanted to thank you for listening - the suggestion about warning the user that Outlook will shut down was taken and you are now properly warning the user to save his work before updating Soocial. Well Done.
IMO its details like this that show the users how much a company listens to them.
Thanks!
By the way, I've recently upgraded to Outlook 2010 32bit, and Soocial has been working perfeclty.-
Thanks for the positive feedback Miguel.

I’m
sorry
Unfortunatelly we are not going to be able to support Outlook 64 bit any time soon. -

This is hugely disappointing, Bart - it's been 'coming soon' for many months now, along with other bugfixes and updates, none of which really seem to have arrived. Is there still any active development going on at Soocial? As a Lifetime member I feel pretty disappointed.

Lots of development going on Alan. The Outlook sync depends on a third party piece of software that does not support 64bit.

'Not any time soon'? Like in 'never'? That really stinks, Bart. It's not like I can downgrade to 32bit. Any workarounds possible? If not, unfortunately, that's it for soocial.

Again really sorry to anyone using Outlook 64bit. We use a third party piece of software that is just not available for 64bit. Will we ever support it? I really can't give an answer to that.
