I have heard that there will be the option in the near future to synchronize Soocial with multiple Gmail/Google accounts.
For clarification, I have a couple questions regarding this feature:
- Will it make all connections have the same contact information?
- How often will it synchronize the two Gmail/Google accounts with one another?

I’m
happy to solve your GMail syncing needs
Logan, keeping us busy tonight!
To answer your questions:
1. Yes, it will mean all your GMail connections have the same contact information. We are planning to add some filter options so you could customize what contacts you want synced to what GMail account.
2. Right now it syncs every hour, we are looking at decreasing that time to about 10 minutes, but this also depends on the scalability issues we are facing. If you change something in the webapp though, the change should only take minutes to get to GMail.-

Any new progress on this? I tried adding a second gmail account, and it seemed to let me, except it just ended up editing the first one - had to wipe the gmail account and start over

Can't wait to see this one myself. This is a killer app for me.

I’m
happy lots is happening behind the scenes
It's on the list. But there are some other things screaming louder for our attention. Some behind the scene things, like making our servers more stable and scalable. Also working hard at making some clients ready for release. -

For what it's worth, I'm interested in this feature too. I have a standard gmail account and two google apps accounts (work and personal). I'd love to be able to sync across all three.
-
-
Please let us know when this feature becomes available. It's a must-have for me.
-
-
I have 2 Gmail and 2-4 Google Apps accounts. I've been looking forward to this feature for awhile, and am excited to see it!
-
-
Please, let me know when this feature is going to be available. I have work (hosted) Gmail and personal free Gmail that need to be "connected"
-
-
I realise that there are higher priority things (like for example symbian series 60 3d edition syncing :P but I would also really appreciate being able to sync multiple google mail accounts.
-
-
I'm interested in this as well! My husband and I love that we can use Soocial to sync up our address books on the computer - if we can get it to work with Gmail, that would be killer. We currently share a Soocial account, though if there were also a way to sync between users on Soocial, that would solve our particular issue!

This is a must have for me - this coupled with over the air iPhone support.

Right - one problem down, one to go! ;-)

Just in case it's useful for anyone. I've recently been trying to centralise on one google account (my personal apps for domains account). I still have my gmail account but, by enabling POP access, collect all the email to that account in my apps gmail account. That also allows me to send from my gmail account from my apps account. Doing that made it easier for me to centralise all my contacts in the apps gmail account and connect soocial to that one account. The syncing that's being requested will result in you having a shared address book across all gmail accounts so I wonder whether there really are that many downsides (I'm sure there probably are and I've just over looked them) to just merging your gmail accounts as I've described above.

Sorry Mark, I've just thought a bit more about what you've written. Assuming you have two accounts (one gapps, one gmail) then I believe your gmail address is only exposed if you send from gapps within gmail, i.e. you're using your gmail account as the primary. I use my gapps account as primary and occasionally send from gmail in there. Granted, that appears as sent from x@gapps on behalf of y@gmail but based on the assumption that we want to keep gmail private only when we're not sending from it I think that's fine.

You're right - for some situations this is a potential solution. Unfortunately just not for mine.

I would love to have the ability to sync between two or more gmail accounts. I have a gmail account (personal stuff) and a google apps gmail account for corporate email.

Any update on this? If I remember correctly, there was supposed to be a release of this feature "soon" but that was a while ago.

I’m
bummed
Hey everybody,
Soon was probably too soon.... Might take a while before we make this possible. Other priorities and stuff.
Sorry. -
-
"Me too!" This is an important feature I've been waiting on for quite some time.
-
-
Any news on this? how long is "a while"? it would be great if you finally do it!
-
-
I'd really like to use this, as I have multiple domains that use Google Apps, so syncing contacts between them makes my life much better. :-)
-
-
I also have multiple Google Apps domains. Syncing contacts between is a feature I would pay for!
-
-
Same here...if soocial can offer a reliable sync with multiple gmail accounts it will be a standard application for me
-
-
I would love to see this feature - i cant belive there is not already something that will let me share an address book with my wife's account!
please get this service up and running - it would be GREAT! -
-
I'm one more person who thinks this would be very helpful!
I have two Google Apps accounts and would love to be able to push all changes on my Mac and mobile to both accounts. The filtering option would be a nice-to-have, but far from necessary. -

-
If you want to sync multiple Gmail / Google Calendar, you can use Memotoo.com, now it's possible !
-
Thanks, for editing that Thomas. Now everybody try out Memotoo.com and see if it fits your needs. ;-)
-
-
I checked out Memotoo. The "free" account only allows 40 contacts to be synced? Who in the world only knows 40 people? The free account, at least for me, is useless.

excited too!
It is a capacity issue Tony. We'd need to start using more servers to be able to do this. It is hard to say when we will have enough resources to be able to do this. But as far as we are concerned, the sooner the better.-
OK. Fair enough. I guess it's better to not add a feature rather than degrade service for everyone.

Any chance the system could maintain the current limit of 3 connections to webmail services while letting us choose which 3? For instance, currently I can connect to Yahoo, Gmail, & Hotmail. I would like to connect to Yahoo, Gmail & Gmail instead. My Hotmail isn't as important to me as the second Gmail account.
-
-
Can't wait for you guys to add this as well. I really want to be able to sync my work (g-apps for biz) and personal (gmail) contacts without having to keep doing it manually! Especially now that I have google voice!
-
-
this is likely teh sort of service i'd pay for - not a lot, but pay none the less. perhaps $1 per connection per month or something. so syncing 2 google accts, 1 windows live woudl be $3 - quite reasonable!

I was considering paying for Plaxo's service if it would sync across my multiple gmail accounts & Outlook. Plaxo won't work, so I'd consider putting that money on a Soocial premium account if it met my multiple account sync needs. Also, I saw a comment about syncing every 10 minutes. I can see how that would put a high load on your servers (and Google's). I'd be happy with syncing at a much lower frequency, with an on-demand option if I know I've made changes I want propagated.
-
-
Bart, as far as capacity and server load I kind of agree with others. I think for most of us we just need them to sync to multiple places but the frequency doesnt matter as much. Example- I dont need contacts/ numbers to sync every 10 mins or even 60. I think for me even just a once a day thing would be more than sufficient. Perhaps you could offer this for free (and maybe 1 forced manual sync occiassionly) and then for paid accounts they can sync every 10 or 30 or whatever?
-
-
-
-
I am *very* interested in this feature. I agree with steb bins42 that if the issue is scalability then when someone has 2 gmail accounts just only sync every 20 minutes instead of every 10 minutes -- this should leave the same load... (Or every 60 minutes and have 1/3 the load!)
For me a daily automatic sync combined with the option to initiate a sync manually would fulfill my needs and result in dramatically less load on servers... -
-
What about allowing to synchronize contacts with multiple Gmail accounts? For example if I have a personal Gmail account as well as a professional Google Apps account?

it seems this has been in planning for over a year now... I myself have multiple gmail/hotmail/yahoomail accounts, when will we see this finally added?
-
-
I have two Google Apps accounts, one for my 'personal' domain and main and one hosted by my work. I can never keep the 2 in sync and there are contacts with correct information in one account and not in the other etc.
It would be awesome to simple be able to merge the contacts lists between the 2 accounts at this point. Future features could include syncing contact information between accounts for identical contacts, or grouping based on account.
Right now there doesn't seem to be any real way to do this for gmail / google apps!

Please tell me I can sync two different Gmail accounts! I have one personal regular Gmail account and a Google Apps Gmail account that I use for work. I would seem that I can't sync the two. Is that correct? If so, does someone know of an alternative to Soocial that will do this?

Can't sync normal Gmail with Google Apps Gmail...really!?. -

I would also like to sync two different Gmail accounts (three actually, 1 personal gmail and 2 google app accounts). At the moment I am using and paying for SpanningSync (which can't do this either). I would happily pay for Soocial if this was a feature - it would save so much frustration keeping some contacts manually synchronized between accounts (it would be great if you could add filter options for gmail synching too). I see this thread has been open for a year, and it's still low priority. I hope the continued interest will push it up the priority list.

I achieve syncing multiple gmail accounts with multiple soocial accounts referring to the same Live id account

Sound like julien23 has one windows live account that 2 different Soocial accounts sync with. So then 2 Gmail account end up having the same info.
-

GMail1 Soocial1 LiveID
GMail2 Soocial2 LiveID
Gmail contacts need to belong to a group (selec all => new group "AllContacts is convenient)
It syncs groups and information fine, I just miss the pictures -

Can someone please tell me how to enable contact syncing between 2 google accounts using Soocial. I cannot seem to find the option anywhere.
Regards-
I've found out how to do this. Log into the 1st google account, then in another browser tab log into Soocial. Add a new gmail connection and Soocial will link to the currently logged in gmail account. Logout of gmail and repeat process with other gmail accounts.
