The web interface for managing contacts is quite nice and functional. However, I feel like the group feature is far from being perfect. Entering group name by hand is an issue, but it has already been discussed. Another one is the ability to see contacts that do not belong to any group.
Currently it is possible to see contacts from a chosen group, or all the contacts. It is not possible to see separately the contacts that are not assigned to any group yet. It would be quite useful to be able to do this as well.

It would also be nice if there were a "last import" group too, like in Apple's Address Book. It's handy for then assigning the last imported contacts to groups.

4You are absolutely right Mr. Freeze. I think you are talking about a connection that has filters set up. We almost have a feature ready to add a special group option to those filters that puts all contacts created on a specific connection to a special group. We just need to finish making it and other things have been demanding our attention. As soon as we get some room in our schedules we will push to finish this feature.

Excellent, I was just going to add a comment about this. Is this still planned to happen soon?

If you have a Mac, you should use Address Book to manage groups to drag and drop contacts.
If you need to know which people have not been added to any group, you could simply write an Applescript to add those to a temporary group. (That group will sync to Soocial as well.) -

I would like to systematically add all my contacts into at least one group. I know I have contacts without any group assignment. Is there a more convenient way to get an overview other than going through each and every contact and checking manually?

How can I find contacts that are not in any of my groups?.-
Trying to keep things in one place Alexander. Now you are in the same thread with the other users that have requested this and a little tip from Robert.

I agree. Soocial needs to add the Category (none) to the list of contacts.

Hell - I don't just want to "see" the contacts with NO GROUP. I need to sync this "special" NO GROUP - so that my wifes new "ungrouped" contacts don't disappear with every sync. Please I've been waiting years for filtering - now waiting for filtering that I can actually use.

That would be a God Send - eagerly awaiting such functionality. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Regards, Doug
