Found the solution
1. Server: sync.soocial.com
2. Username: your Soocial username
3. Password: your Soocial password
4. Port: 80
5. Set to include contacts synchronization
6. Set The Remote Database ./contacts
-
If you are not in a country that supports an automatic configuration text message then you can still use Soocial by setting up your phone manually. Many phones have different ways to do this, but in general you must fill in the following information:
1. Server: sync.soocial.com
2. Username: your Soocial username
3. Password: your Soocial password
4. Port: 80
5. Set to include contacts synchronization
Other fields do not matter, but be sure to have a working internet connection. -

Using Nokia N95 8GB What should I give for remote database I gave "contacts" but it didn't work
-

Same problem. We have to try different server version - 1.1, instead of default 1.2

but, how do I get past "Step 1" in the setup sequence on the soocial web site, if my phone isn't supported?
-
-
Hi Mptpro,
you don't *need* to setup the phone in our webapp, if you manually setup your phone. The setup in the Soocial webapp is for automatically configuring your phone, which is done by sending a text message.
Once you sync your phone, it will automatically appear on the 'Connections' page. -
-
I see the settings you enter, but no mention of WHERE you enter those? What application is actually doing the syncing using those settings?
-
Hi there, the problem is that every phone is different and thus have different interfaces and menu structures where to fill in that information.
We are working on a system that shows you how to set things up manually for every phone that we support but no ETA on that yet. -
-
yes, where do you enter the settings?

Hi scionguy,
Windows Mobile phones aren't support yet sorry! Most phones have the software built-in but Windows Mobile hasn't.
Synthesis AG (http://www.synthesis.ch/) has some sync-client applications for Windows Mobile but we haven't tested those yet to see if they work with Soocial. -
-
I can't make it work on my Sony Ericsson W910i, can anyone tell me where exactly to put what?
-
hey ebidk, the SE 910i should work fine. Sorry we missed your question. Would you care e-mailing us your username to support at soocial.com and we can take a look at the logs and see what might have gone awry.

Just tried to sync my Samsung i900 with Synthesis AG (http://www.synthesis.ch/) using
1. Server: sync.soocial.com
2. Username: your Soocial username (your email)
3. Password: your Soocial password
It took several loads to sync all my 1500 contacts, but it worked very well.- view 1 more comment

This is encouraging because I'm considering buying a Samsung Eternity (SGH-a867) in the USA (ATT/Cingular carrier) and hope to sync it with my Mac running Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac's Entourage client. Alternatively, I can sync that to iCal & Mac Address Book. What about syncing to Google Calendar and Google Contacts?

Hey czechman,
Samsung phones don't seem to work out of the box. In this thread Polle de Maagt got his Samsung syncing using the http://www.synthesis.ch/ client. If you try that would you mind letting us know what you experience? -

My 2c:
Just got my soocial login, I'm ecstatic, thanks!!!
As mentioned above, I had to change the server version to 1.1 from the default 1.2 as setup by the soocial text. With 1.2 I kept getting sync error. The default setup text also setup a weird access point (TMo WEB) which I changed to 'always ask'.

You need to download the free Synthesis SyncML app from the app store and fill in the details mentioned above. -

Jcc, blackberry does not have syncing possibilities to be able to set up. That is why we are making a client that can be installed on the BlackBerry. We will start giving out an alpha release in the next weeks. I you want to be a tester. You can send a mail to support (at soocial dot com)

I have an LG Vu cu915 touchscreen smartphone, is it supported? If not, will it be? Is it possible to sync the phone with google calendar and/or contacts?
I also have a Mac running Microsoft's Office 2008 and I use Entourage (instead of Outlook, or Mac address book or iCalendar.)
Thanks in advance -

The mac issue can be solved easily by setting up Entourage to sync itself to the Mac Address Book. This is in preferences, under Sync Services.

I have an Iphone and downloaded the synthesis application from the iTunes store. I seem to be able to connect, but once I have (and the phone says it's syncing), I get an error back saying
"Invalid data from server (wrong URL?)"
Under connections on the Soocial site I do find the mention of a connection called "Synthesis AG SySync Client iPhone Contacts" which says the phone has never been synced yet. What can I do to make it work?-
Lyanna,
Did you go through all the threads here for the right settings? What settings do you have in the Synthesis client right now? -
-
-
-
-
Of course I did.
My settings right now are:
1. Server: http://sync.soocial.com (I also tried with a forward slash after .com, same result
2. Username: your Soocial username (email address like everyone says)
3. Password: your Soocial password (changed it around a couple of times, no result)
4. Port: 80 ---> this I can't configure anywhere within Synthesis
5. Set to include contacts synchronization ---> can't configure this
6. Set The Remote Database ./contacts -----> can't configure this
SyncML version is set to automatic, it then automatically jumps to SyncML 1.1-
Hi Lyanna,
Your settings are fine.
we've had a look at where it's going wrong (although the Synthesis SyncML client is officially not supported by Soocial yet).
It seems to bork on the note field. We've applied a fix to this and will be deploying this fix beginning of next week. I'm using this app for my iPhone as well (till we have our own) so I'm anxiously waiting for this fix as well!
Hope this gives you the necessary info. -
-
Yay! At least I know I'm not going bonkers :D
If you are not supporting Synthesis, is there somewhat else I might use? (I'm guessing not, but you never know ...) -

I have a Nokia 7360. I'm in Sweden, so I can't get the settings automatically. I get the message that I have the wrong settings for synchronization, but I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have entered the data as you have put it above (several times). What can I do to fix this?
-
-
i have several problem as well: i have setted everything as you have described, and i connect to the remote server, but just after the label "starting syncronization" appears, an arror "impossibile to open databes" stops the operation. My phone is an LG kt610, it runs symbian third edition.
Higui-
Hey Higui,
You made a typo in the settings. ./contacats should be ./contacts If you change that it should work. -
-
-
-
-
Ok, look, I really want to get this to work but apparently no one at Soocial is inclined to look into the matter further. I'm actually pretty disappointed by now.
-
Lyanna, niet boos worden!
-
-
-
-
-
Veel succes er mee.- view 3 more comments

I use Motorola Razr V8, I'm from Croatia, so I had to set up my phone manually. I don't have an option to set up port (port 80), so i beliave that port 80 is default port!?

Has anyone tried to use Funambol's Blackberry Plugin? I tried it using the settings here and got a 500 Internal Server Error response.
-
I can get Funambol's BB plugin to work with Funambol itself, but not with Soocial. The only way I manage to sync my phone with Soocial is to use Outlook as an intermediary. (Sync with Outlook via the Blackberry Desktop Client, and then sync Outlook with Soocial.)

My sync worked perfectly with my Sony Ericsson, but I'm having difficulty making it work with my Nokia N70. It says:
1. Connecting
2. Initialising
3. Sync Incompl.
4. Connection error
Message no. 3 above is shown only for a half a second. My user name is tim@io41 (of course add .com to the end of that) in case there is any useful information to be seen in the logs.
Many thanks!!-

I have a Nokia 3110 and it doesn't allow manual setup - the sync settings need to come via SMS - is the SMS setup service going to be back anytime soon?
-
-
I have used several other SyncML services but cannot seem to get Soocial to work on my Motorola RAZR v3xx though it works fine with three other services. Arjun Kumar Parsi refers to the ./contacts "Remote Database" and that seems promising as a "Data Path" for this phone but with or without the ./ (other services generally use simply "contacts" or "card" it seems to crash my phone (to the point that I must remove the battery to reset it).

I have a Motorola V3. In the manual setup, there is no setting for Ports, however there is one for Data Paths. Can anyone help me set my phone up?

Ports will automatically grab port 80 so you should be fine, the datapaths are ignored and actually one of the dumbest settings engineers could have put in the phone. Have you been able to sync this phone with Soocial yet?

-
Can you list the settings you have entered to your phone?
-
-
-
-
-
I got it figured out! The problem was the missing period before "/contacts".
Entered "./contacts" and now it works fine.
What a great program! Am only using it to sync phone numbers and it works like a charm. What I particularly love about Soocial is that it labels each phone number in a similar manner to my Nokia symbian phone. Since I am specific about the designations (private vs. work, and mobile vs. landline, etc), it's great because each number can have as many tags as needed.
In a world where each person now seems to have multiple phone numbers (work mobile, private mobile, direct work line, home fax, work fax, etc etc etc), anything less seems inadequate.
Many thanks + pls keep up the lovely work! -

Hi,
I'm trying to get my Samsung Star sync with soocial. It seems to connect, but I always get the reply 'receiving failed'. After searching a while on the internet, I think the problem might be that the Samsung Star only supports Syncml version 1.2, and soocial only supports version 1.1. Is this correct, or is something else wrong?
By the way, in my soocial 'connections' tab, my phone appears with the picture of a brick, saying it has never synced with soocial before. So it seems some contact really was made between the phone and the server, but then it failed...
Many thanks !-
Hey Merijn,
Your phone tries to do a one way sync. Our servers do not accept that. Can you set your phone to sync two way? -
-
-
-
-
Bart,
I tried that as well several times before, but then I got a 'decoding failed' message...
Anyway, I just tried it again (at about 21:40), same message.
Merijn-
Also seems like you have settings entered for sync calendars and stuff. Soocial only does contacts. Can you turn of syncing:
Memos or Notes
Schedules of Calendars
Todo's
Memos -
-
-
-
-
Strange, since I actually had those switched off... Just to be sure I deleted the complete sync profile and set it up again from the beginning, with only selecting contacts. Still the same problem...
-
Merijn,
I deleted the phone from the www.soocial.com/connections page. I am hoping this might solve it. Can you try once more?
We do not have a lot of experience with Samsung telephones. Seems like there ain't many that actually properly support syncml. But we seem to be close for your phone. -
-
-
-
-
Damn, still no luck !
At this moment, I get the sync from my Mac to my phone via :
address book Soocial Hotmail Memotoo (which uses funambol) Samsung Star
This works perfectly, but it's a shame that I have to go through so many steps, because the more steps I use, the more room for error...
Anyway, the Memotoo sync works well, if that information may be helpful to find the problem?
Thanks a lot already for all the effort !
I appreciate it ! -
-
Whoops, it seems the nice arrows I made didn't come through...
It is :
Mac Address Book - Soocial - Hotmail - Memotoo - Samsung Star-
what settings do you have for the contacts database?
seems like you have ./contacts/ now. Could you try either ./contacts or just contacts? -
-

FWIW, I successfully used the following configuration on a Nokia E51
1st: If you have the phone partially/incorrectly set up as a connection, you may need to delete it first under the "Connections" section of the Website.
Menu --> Tools --> Sync --> Options --> New Sync Profile
(Just create new/blank, rather than copying)
Sync Profile Name: Soocial (whatever you like...)
Applications:
Contacts:
Include in Sync: Yes
Database: Contacts
Sync. Type: Both (whichever you want)
Set all other apps Include in Sync: "No"
Connection Settings:
Server Version: 1.1
Data Bearer: Internet
Access point: Always Ask (whatever)
Host Address: http://sync.soocial.com/
Port: 80
Username: your@email.address
Password: YourPassword
Allow Sync Requests: yes
Accept All Sync Reqs: yes
Newwork Auth: no (I'm using 3g)
Hope that helps someone...

I am in Canada, but cannot get my cell phone to sync via webapp, so then I tried to sync manually. Typing in sync.soocial.com does not work and gives me a ":-)" pic in green. What am I doing wrong?
-
Hi there, typing in sync.soocial.com in your phone's browser will not work.
You need to install a client on your phone first (if it's a smart phone). If you have a feature phone like a Nokia or SonyEricsson then you need to use our website to send you a configuration message to your cellphone (login/create a Soocial account on www.soocial.com then go to http://www.soocial.com/connections/ph... )
Hope that helps! -

It is a samsung corby pro. I tried to use the webapp to send a config msg, but it didn't not go thru. I chose Canada as my country, but it does not show my service provider (Rogers). Help!

Hi there, yes you're right Rogers is missing. Bad us.
We'll look into adding Rogers to the carriers. Unfortunately there is no work around for it in the mean time. Let's see how quickly we can add it for you. -
-
-
-
-
Actually not really bad us. More like bad Canadian Authorities. We have investigated this last year and got this response from out settings messages provider:
"At present we have no routes into Roger Wireless and therefore unable to deliver. This is more about the Canadian Authorities and restrictions being applied against supplies where the traffic volumes are very low." -
-
does anyone know the corresponding setting to this "./contacts" for groups sync?
tried ./contacts and ./groups but after i turn on the group sync as well, i get an error :/-
Groups sync is not supported for those phones.
