Birthday synchronisation
I would love it if soocial synchronised the birthday details that I have in OS X address book. Also it would be great if this could be:
1) Displayed in the web interface
2) Synced with gmail contacts somehow

We will add some more visible details to the webapp. at some point. Good suggestion.
Syncing that info to Gmail is a problem because Gmail does not have a field for that in their contacts. You'd really need to talk to Gmail for that. We do sync the Birthday info from OSX to other devices that support it.1 Comment

Inappropriate?I am looking forward to such a detail synchronized. I would understand if it is not synchronized with gmail or any other service that does not have a birthday field. But my nokia E71 does have it and I would be happy to sync it.

Clark, that should work now. Can you try to add one to a Address Book contact and then sync that to Soocial and then to your phone to see if it works? If not please let me know the username and the time you tried? You can send that to support (at soocial dot com)

Inappropriate?Gmail now has a Birthday field among others in their Google Contacts. When will Soocial support syncing this? I hope it is soon. I am very excited.

I believe it wasn't seen on the Gmail blog yet as they state at the end of the post:
"One important note: these import and management improvements are only available in the standalone contact manager. We're working to make these improvements available in Gmail as soon as possible."

Inappropriate?This topic states this idea is implemented. Does this also mean that an added birthday in the gmail contacts should be synced to the Soocial interface? If it should, it isn't working for me.

Inappropriate?I also think that the birthday-field is very important (for me this information is the most important information besides the phone-number). It would really put my mind at rest to see the birthday on the webapp...

B'days are synced alright, however, when my (Gmail created) contact's B'day got syn'ed to my Apple Address Book, the B'day's data is garbled.
E.g., on my Gmail contact, the B'day is August 5, but when sync'ed to Apple's Address Book it became 5-7xxxx whatever.
Can you please check that for me?

Inappropriate?I have added a birthday to a Gmail contact, but cannot see it in the Soocial Webapp. And when I edit that contact in the Soocial webapp, there is no birthday field available.

actually the info does sync, we just do not show it in the contact editor. You will find the info is synced to other connections. We will add the Birthdays to the contact editor soon. -

Inappropriate?I look forward to see this field on the web interface too. And it would be perfect if it could be fetched from Facebook/LinkedIn if absent, but I guess this is another story...

Inappropriate?Just a pointer to anyone who's found this - Soocial has done it! It's already supported! It was released at the same time as the premium accounts were, so the announcement kinda got side-lined.
